wk03 game concept concept phase

For my game, I am currently undecided on a name, but it will be a Turn based startegy game similar to the Fire Emblem Series. The magic in this world is based off of marks, a birthmark on a persons body that symbolizes what they can do. These Marks allow the person to morph their body into animal parts (for example, a bear mark on your arm would allow you to turn your arm into a bear claw). As someone grows older and uses their mark more, they become more powerful and can morph more of their body or their qualities.

The main charaters, both the heros and antagonists, will be people who have marks and are either run the gangs of the city, or who are part of the militia trying to take back the streets and bring order to the city. For the Heros, there is a squad of 4, Carlos (squad leader, cheetah) Lenox (Main hero, wolf) Shayla (Squad member, blue jay) and Jamie (ex-gang, fox). For the Antagonist, there is The Beast (Leader, main antagonist, Lion) Jane (leads tiger gang, Tiger) Rex (leads rhino gang, Rhino) and Roy (Leads Birds of Prey gang, Hawk). All of these main characters have motivations of why they must do the actions that they do, and they will fight until the end for what they believe. The characters image is roughly based off of their mark, so The Beast would have long Blonde, mane like hair and be large and strong like a lion. They also tend to use their animal like attributes while fighting, claws if its close range, but use simple guns if it is long range.


The world is based in a city-state called Lexington. Once a small city, it has rapidly expanded in the past 100 years due to the industrial revolution. This has caused many new neighborhoods to appear and fall to gangs before the miltia could step in and create order. The gangs turned the white streets of lexington into war like zones that the poor and the outcast are forced to live. The vocal point of the city is in its center, where the Militia has its command center and the government meets. The government is ran by an elected offical who remains in office fore 15 yeaers or until death. In the past 10 years, there have been 12 people elected, with the current one in office for 4 years. He has made it his goal to use the militia to reinstate order to the city by using the milita to end the gangs. This means the militia would go into the gang heavy neighborhoods and fight to the last breath if need be.

Levels would be based in different neighborhoods, using buildings, cars and trees as obscuring terrain. it would be grid based, like Fire Emblem and enemies would be seen unless they are inside to reninforce the enemy later. If a character can fly, they can position themselves above buildings or trees for cover to attack from. Characters would be seen as pixled graphics in the overworld and would fit in one of the grid squares.
